SES Equity Statement
Equity is an ardent journey toward well-being as defined by the affected. Equity demands sacrifice and redistribution of power and resources in order to break systems of oppression, heal continuing wounds, and realize justice. To achieve equity and social justice, we must first root out deeply entrenched systems of racism. Equity proactively builds strong foundations of agency, is vigilant for unintended consequences, and boldly aspires to be restorative. Equity is disruptive and uncomfortable and not voluntary. Equity is fundamental to the community we want to build.

A Conversation with "Artivists" of the Front Lines led by Creative Justice Toni Cade Bombara taught us, “The role of the artist is to make the revolution irresistible.” Youth, artists, cultural workers, storytellers, painters, dancers, chefs, documentarians—artists on the forefront of social change. They help us see what the world is, believe in what it could, and manifest the world we most need through creativity. Gloria Steinem says, “Like art, revolutions come from combining what exists into what has never existed before.” Creative Justice youth artists and teaching artists will share the birth, the work, and the hope of Creative Justice through art and dialogue.
